In Memory of Walt

Yesterday at the age of 84 the best friend I ever had was put down due to sever kidney failure. He was the best dog I've known and better than most people. He was the most incredible steak-stealing, underwear chewing, campsite-protecting, road tripping, pillow hogging, possum killing, poison ivy spreading, leash pulling, mountain climbing buddy I've ever known. It makes me feel weak and small to know he's gone. I miss you and I love you brother.

So sorry to hear about Walt. I know how much my hound means to me and it always makes me sad to hear about such things as this, espicially when they are ill. You know it's the best thing for them at times, but it still doesn't make it any easier.

Mine and Indi's thoughts are with you.

I second what Dean wrote...so sorry to hear about Walt. I love the photos you posted of him...Walt: all I know of you is that of which I see here and read here, and I also heard you could rip a mean dog fart. May you rest in peace.

I think Walt misses you too..there is nothing stronger than the bond between you and the dog that you care for. And I can tell from what you wrote, that you cared A LOT for Walt. I'm not sure what happens when we pass on...but it only makes sense to me that we gravitate to the ones we loved so dearly...there is nothing stronger then the love you have for Walt. If you can remember that, you'll know Walt is still with you. Life is very short...very short...keep your eye on what matters most. And believe me, it has nothing to do with money.

Sorry man. I had to put my cat to sleep a few weeks ago. I know, cats and dogs are totally different, but it still hurt. Hope you're doing better.
